Man flu Kim - or you'll never get any sympathy. Meantime here's a nice podcast: www.brooklandsradio.co.uk/podcasts/StarsOverSurrey2018-04-27pod.mp3This guy was membership secretary of the FAS before me and very knowledgeable. He must do a phenomenal amount of work for this program each month !! Mine is much better of course but you'll never know. :<) Keep cheerful - see you both soon !!

A filthy night for travelling but after a "later than usual" start 26 of us enjoyed the programme.
Philippa's talk on Cassini was well received - happily it was not to technical but full of those anecdotal experiences that make it more enjoyable.
Missed a few regulars - JR, Kim & Jenny, Goodwick Mike, Rob & Nathan, Rob W, to name a few. A number of old faces re-appeared which was nice.
If everyone that has been to a meeting all appeared together we could have the nice problem of finding seats for all!!
Any comments from anyone regarding meetings generally, things you would like to hear etc, are always welcomed - especially volunteers for talks!!

I was asked by one of our regular ladies (sorry her name escapes me for the moment) if someone would like to give a 'talk' to explain many of the terms that crop up in astronomy. eg Opposition, culmination, nadir, zenith etc. etc. Alternatively perhaps it may be possible to publish a glossary of terms somewhere on the website? Just a thought. Jim ps an informative talk last night from Phillipa. I mean who would think of sending a submarine to Titan? pps here is a site with many terms explained, hope this helps a bit. link

That would be a difficult talk to keep interesting, your link is a better solution Jim.

I would like to come more but a long way, being perhaps an over honest person I chose what I am most interested in when attending, whilst I am MORE than happy to support the club, and believe me I will when you need volunteers, it is a long way to come to listen to a talk of not much interest to someone, NOT being rude.
Bit like checking a magazine in the shop before buying to see if you want to spend the money on it.
I will return
