Some changes are about to take place with the lectures at Letterston. Starting in December to March for a trial period the usual routine of 'What's up' followed by refreshments then the main talk will be changed to 'Topic of the month' TOM for short. The December quiz will be removed and the first TOM will take its place and the presenter will be Mike Pritchard. The January meeting will be on Tuesday Jan. 8th as the first Tuesday coincides with New years day and I don't think many would want to come out then. The idea of TOM is that the presenter will have chosen a topic or two or even three topics at his/her discretion and then do the usual illustrated talk on that topic............Are you with me so far? The idea then is to go outside weather permitting and observe the object/s on the TOM but if weather is not on our side then we will have a discussion in the hall about what we have just seen or indeed any suitable topic those present would like to discuss. This of course gives everyone present the chance to see the chosen object using the PAGs equipment as well as any other 'scopes etc. that have been brought along. Remember that first and foremost we are an observing group or at least we started out as that. Your committee hope that this new format will meet with your approval and the decision to keep it or revert back to the current way will be decided by you the members sometime in March. Clear skies Jim Chairman
