I remember Roy mentioning this crater some time back - last night it was nicely placed by the terminator and the central peak easily seen in the 25x100 binoculars. Around 8.00 p.m. the waxing crescent Moon was low in the SW and the clouds kept away long enough for some good views. I had hoped to see the big 3 that we spoke of in a recent "What's Up" - Theophilus, Cyrillus and Catharina on the edge of Mare Nectaris. I imagined that I could see them as Madler, just to the right was clearly there. Perhaps tonight if the clouds keep away. If anyone has a photo/sketch of the region it would be nice to see. Yesterday I was on borrowed time so no chance of a picture from me.

kept looking at the 'Fingernail' moon most of the afternoon when it was visible through hazy cloud but after it got darker it was either too low down for me or behind clouds so never got the binos out.
