Had a look at mars in telescope last night. It's quite bland and featureless now compared to a few months ago, and only about a third of the size it was at closest approach. It was Jane's first viewing of Mars through a telescope and she was quite disappointed. Bright moon didn't help much either, as it blotted out most of the southern sky.

I was similarly disappointed by Mars, but did get a chance of wandering around Orion!
