Slightly different from our normal routine. This month we thought as some members are not fully familiar with their instruments that we would invite you all to bring along your telescope, binoculars etc. and have a 'Hands on' experience with demonstrations by more experienced members assisting with and queries that you may have. There will be a short 'whatsup' plus refreshments of course and if weather permits outside observing with the society's instruments and your own. (click on image to enlarge)

Had this yesterday from Emma Hewitt:
"" I've just come across your group and am interested in attending tomorrow's meeting. I teach physics in Milford Haven School and have recently become more interested in Astronomy (hopefully I will be organising a club at school). I have little experience in the practical aspects, but know a reasonable bit about the science. I understand that as a newcomer I'd have to pay a contribution to the session and then there'd be a membership fee. Is it ok if I just turn up?""
I have replied that she will be welcome!!

Update:
""It's been a hell of a day with unexpected prep for the first day back tomorrow so I'm not going to be able to come tonight. I'll definitely be along next month.""
Not tonight Jim but it's getting close!!

The weather was miserable so didn't expect to see many turning up however the usual stalwarts appeared and I think the total for the night was 15. After the 'Whatsup' we ended up just having a discussion among ourselves about the various merits of eyepieces and other topics. Then it was back out in the rain to head home. Possibility of getting hold of a semi pro speaker for future talks and also videos mentioned. I had a quick look at the Federation site but couldn't find any speakers within range. maybe someone else will have better luck. In the meanwhile there is a link to September skies here link
