We went out on Thursday night (23/08/2018) with the 70D attached to a 200mm prime lens fitted to an AstroTrac mount and managed to take a number of 2min. subs which were then stacked with DeepSkyStacker and adjusted for levels and curves in Photoshop. The resulting picture of Comet 21P/Giacobini-Zinner shows the comet half-way between alpha Camelopardalis and alpha Perseus and having a photographable tail. It was not possible to see the comet in binoculars as we were looking north-east across the whole of Cardiff's light-polluted sky.
Hoping for dark skies for the 4 September meeting.
