Does the loan policy only include the Dob and the binos? I ask because I would like to try out the "Coronado Solarmax II 60mm double stack solar telescope" should the sun ever emerge for any decent period of time.

Does the club have insurance cover for gear like that or do you have to pay a deposit and ensure you have adequate cover on home insurance
And do you have to be a member for a period of time before borrowing security wise
I am just covering all bases, after all accidents etc happen
Do the club have filters please

Members are welcome to use any of the groups equipment at meetings and events, we have a limited kit that can be hired out for a small fee to members for use at home the idea being after a while the fees will cover part or all of the replacement costs should the item be damaged or lost, the higher value equipment is not generally lent to members, this is because it is not possible for the group to get insurance on these items and a members home insurance will not cover the cost of equipment that does not belong to them.

As I thought and to be honest QUITE RIGHT too. Could not imagine a scope on loan that is £2k, and anyway imagine the paperwork and time ensuring people had cover, insurance, a £2k deposit or £1k or even £500. Smaller items fine, small scopes with small residual value of course I have always said I am happy for anyone to try out any gear I have but NEVER on a loan. How much for filters if you have them please Thanks

Thanks for letting know. I guessed that might be the case!

We don't have filters available for loan either (I don't think we have any filters at all actually, but I could be wrong)
