We will be holding a public viewing event at Letterston Carnival on Saturday 13th July. Weather permitting we can show the public some views of the sun. If it rains we can set up some scopes in the hall. Any members who are able to turn up and interact with the public are welcome, and you can bring your own solar scope or use the clubs scopes. If possible arrive about 1pm to enable set up time.

Got set up at Letterton carnival about 12.30, and had intermittent views of the sun throughout the afternoon, though there was no solar activity apparent. Of course, as soon as I put scopes away the sky cleared and stayed clear all evening. Had quite a few people showing interest, with some showing surprise that there was a club in the area. Hopefully this will translate into a few new attendees at meetings. Sent a couple of pics to the info email address, if someone wants to post them on the blog or facebook.
