Out last night as comet predicted to be passing through the Pleiades but too much cloud cover so the only thing I could see was the moon through the clouds.

I saw it tonight, the third night I have looked for it. Listed on Skymap as magnitude 6.9 I tried at first with Bins, nothing, next night with a 70mm spotting scope, still nothing. tonight I got the 8" out and after a lot of hunting and hassle (no motor drive) I eventually found it. I don't know where the mag 7 comes from because this thing was more like magnitude 9 or 10, it seemed quite spread out but but apart from a somewhat irregular shaped smudge, there was little else to define it.
